PASTOR’S LETTER Feast of St. Isidore the Farmer, May 15, 2020
Dear Sisters and Brothers of St. Agnes.
You are aware, I am sure, of the increase of the number of COVID-19 cases which has occurred this past week in Washington County. In addition, I understand, at least two local plants have closed down temporarily. As this the weekend approaches, I request each person and family to carefully consider whether they should attend Mass this weekend or not.
Please make the decision that is best for you, your family, and the community. While I welcome everyone’s participation at Mass, I also want that we all act in a manner which will promote the well-being of all. In light of the broad dispensation from the Sunday obligation which Bishop Peter Christensen has given, no one should feel themselves “obliged” to attend Mass.
I thank everyone who has attended Mass these past two weekends for your attentive observance of social distancing. Plus, some wore face masks. Let us maintain this attentive observance in the weeks ahead.
You (and your family) may wish to spend some time this weekend in prayerful reflection on the Scripture readings for this Sunday, the Sixth Sunday of Easter; they are
Acts 5:5-8, 14-17
I Peter 3:15-18
John 14:15-21
Let us continue to raise one another and indeed the entire world community in prayer. May the healing and saving love and mercy of our Risen Lord be among us abundantly.
Let us pray:
Grant, almighty God, that we may celebrate with heartfelt devotion these days of joy, which we keep in honor of the risen Lord, and that what we relive in remembrance we may always hold to in what we do. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (
